Here are a couple of sample recipes - we hope that you enjoy them ..

      

KARADJORDJE’S STEAK (Serbian)

  

This is a very popular dish in Serbia and available in all restaurants. Very simple to prepare and very enjoyable to eat!

  

Ingredients:

500 gm beef steak
100 gm kajmak (cottage cheese)
B
read crumbs (to cover steaks)
2 eggs
Oil for cooking

    

COOKING METHOD:

  • Cut the meat into thin slices and beat them well with a kitchen hammer to flatten them even more.

  • Put some kajmak on each steak (cottage cheese will also work for this). Roll them up and fasten each with a toothpick.

  • Dip them in beaten eggs and then into bread crumbs and fry in hot oil until golden brown. Take the toothpicks out of meat when cooked.

  • Serve with mashed potatoes or French fries.

  • Serves 2 people.

  • For piquant taste you can put some sliced ham together with kajmak while rolling the steaks.

HOT CHOCOLATE PUDDING

    

Ingredients:

    

Pudding                                   

2½ oz self raising flour

4 oz soft margarine

4 oz sugar

1 tablespoon cocoa powder

2 eggs

         

Sauce

½ pint strong coffee

4 oz brown sugar

1 tablespoon cocoa powder

 

Cooking METHOD:

  • Mix all the pudding ingredients together in a large bowl.

  • Put the mixture into a greased pudding basin suitable to be heated in a microwave oven.

  • Mix together the cocoa and brown sugar for the sauce and sprinkle on top of the pudding mix.

  • Slowly pour the coffee over the top.

  • Microwave on a high setting for 5-6 minutes.

  • Allow to cool for 2 minutes. Then put a deep plate on the top of the basin and turn it over. The pudding should come out onto the plate.

  • Serve hot with cream or ice cream.
